Worry Free (day 1)

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life” (Matthew 6:25a).

God has everything under control. During times of struggle and trials, we have to remember that the One, who created us, still has the power to care for us.

He is the One who formed us in the womb and gave us life. He has a purpose for us or we wouldn’t be here. He’s the One, who cared enough to send His precious, only son to die for us. Seeing He has done so much for us, is it too great a matter for Him to care for us and keep us? Give praise to His holy name for His great power. He knows who we are; He will supply our every need as we travel the road of life!

Seek God First

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you” (Matthew 6:33).

How sad that when it comes to our problems and needs, we turn to God as a last resort. We frantically worry or panic trying to work or reason things out our own way. What do we accomplish? We either make ourselves sick or we turn our frustration on our loved ones. We can avoid all that by applying today’s Bible verse. When we tend to crowd Jesus out of the picture, we are only setting ourselves up for more problems. Then we wonder why our lives seem so defeated.

Seek Him first and rest on the promises and provision of the Savior. He really is only a prayer away.

Why Bother to Worry?

“Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? Or, What shall we drink? Or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?…..for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things” (Matthew 6:31-32b).

If you want to overcome worry, believe in these verses. I used to be such a “worry wart.” I learned that worry was actually draining my faith because it was taking away my trust in God. We’ve all had nights laying awake worrying about finances or other daily problems. Nothing else would happen through the night. Situations were out of our control but somehow we thought it would change the outcome if we didn’t get much or any sleep. We only complicate things when we don’t put our problems under God’s control. How much easier life becomes when we take our every care to God and then forget about them. There is nothing too hard for God to handle so give it all to Jesus. You will have far less sleepless nights.

Believe in God’s Provision

“Wherefore if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is and tomorrow is cast in the oven, shall he not more clothe you, O ye of little faith?” (Matthew 6:30).

God takes care of every aspect of His Creation—birds, animals, flowers, and, yes, even the grass. However, all these are temporal.

We, humans, are the highest form of creation. We have a soul that will never die. God loves us beyond His feelings and care for all other things. Because He has always taken good care of everything He has created, we can believe God will take even better care of us. The last part of our verse gives us an answer when we fail to believe in God’s provision. Don’t overcome your faith with worry.

What God Provides

“Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall ye put on, Is not the life more than meat, and the body more than raiment?” (Matthew 6:25).

We have already determined how God knows our needs. It goes beyond that when we repent and become a child of God. Everything about our lives is important to God, every last detail. He provides for us so we don’t have to spend our lives on earth worrying about everything. As we continue to trust and depend on Him, it seems He entrusts more to us. The latter comes in the form of blessings that come from our blessed Provider.

How could we not trust the One Who provided a way for us to be saved from an eternity in Hell? One of the many things God provides is a way of escape when the trials and problems of life become more than we can bear. We should say a prayer of thanksgiving for all that God provides.
