\u201cWhen thou gatherest the grapes of thy vineyard, thou shalt not glean it afterward: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless and for the widow\u201d<\/em> (Deuteronomy 24:21).<\/span><\/p>\n

We see in today\u2019s verse how the needy were taken care of in Old Testament times. Obviously, greed was not an issue back then. Many of us have more than we need, but, aren\u2019t always willing to share any surplus. We may be comfortable in our homes with plenty of food for our tables. However, many in our prosperous country are homeless or go to sleep hungry. Be willing to take what you need and leave the rest to help the needy.<\/span><\/p>\n
