{"id":1946,"date":"2010-04-28T00:43:19","date_gmt":"2010-04-28T06:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=1946"},"modified":"2010-04-05T14:47:39","modified_gmt":"2010-04-05T20:47:39","slug":"1946","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=1946","title":{"rendered":"Teach With Patience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cAnd he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way\u00a0 of God more perfectly\u201d (Acts 18:26).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Priscilla and Aquila were New Testament workers who helped Paul in his ministry. They were missionaries and church planters, too.\u00a0 One phase of their work was teaching new converts.<\/p>\n<p>Our verse speaks of a very zealous convert named Apollos.\u00a0 As one commentary put it, \u201cApollos had previously been in Egypt when someone told him about John the Baptist and his teachings about Jesus.\u00a0 That\u2019s all he knew at that point but he went with what he knew about Jesus.\u00a0 He just needed to hear the rest of the story that Jesus was the Messiah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In Ephesus, Priscilla and Aquila heard Apollos preach a dynamic message. However afterwards they, in love, took Apollo aside to fill in the blanks of what had happened to Jesus since John the Baptist.\u00a0 Obviously, what they shared only added to Apollos\u2019 boldness in spreading the gospel.\u00a0 Apollos was encouraged by others to keep preaching.<\/p>\n<p>As we work with others, we must be willing to forbear with others as they learn the truths of God\u2019s Word.\u00a0 You didn\u2019t learn what you now know overnight.\u00a0 Your patience will be rewarded as you see those you teach mature in the Lord. Patient teaching is not a new concept in missions work. What <em>is <\/em>new is that Christians aren\u2019t practicing this as in times past.
