“Go, inspect the city of Jerusalem. \u00a0Walk around and count the many towers and tour all the citadels, that you may describe them to future generations. \u00a0For that is what God is like. \u00a0He is our God forever and ever, and he will be our guide until we die”\u00a0 (Psalm 48:12-14 NLT).<\/em><\/p>\n

To whom do you think this section of the Psalms was written?<\/p>\n

Was it written to our enemy? \u00a0Challenging them to look around? \u00a0Provoking them to take a good hard look at the powerful fortress our God is? \u00a0Placing before them a line in the sand, a line God protects and arms with His strength?<\/p>\n

Was it written to the mighty warrior in the middle of battle? \u00a0Was it to encourage and strengthen his resolve? \u00a0Was it penned to push him to battle, filled with enthusiasm and certainty?<\/p>\n

Was it written to the cowering soldier hiding behind some rocks? \u00a0To reassure? \u00a0To calm their fears? \u00a0To remind them of Whose side they’re on? \u00a0Who has called them to fight? \u00a0Who has their back?<\/p>\n

Was it written to you? \u00a0The filled and ready to fight? \u00a0The weary and worn out? \u00a0The scared and doubting?<\/p>\n

Yes. \u00a0Yes. \u00a0Yes. \u00a0And, yes.<\/p>\n

Satan might as well know up front, that God is our Protector and our Strongtower. \u00a0Presenting him with the facts, and verbally on occasions, reminds him of just how powerless he is against God.<\/p>\n

The strongest warriors need their faith bolstered. \u00a0They need to be reminded of the value of their mission, the importance of their calling and the things they can do with God on their side.<\/p>\n

The scared and the doubting need to be told God is on their side. \u00a0They need to be shown just how fortified the walls of His protection are, the depth of His love and the far-reaching grace He has bestowed upon them.<\/p>\n

And you? \u00a0You need to know those things too, don’t you?<\/p>\n
