{"id":3723,"date":"2012-01-31T00:25:50","date_gmt":"2012-01-31T06:25:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=3723"},"modified":"2012-01-30T13:28:45","modified_gmt":"2012-01-30T19:28:45","slug":"be-a-barnabas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=3723","title":{"rendered":"Be A Barnabas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cWho, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord\u201d (Acts 11:23).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I feel the early church understood what it meant to encourage one another. One name stands out when I think of that church.\u00a0 That name is Barnabas, which translated means \u201cson of encouragement.\u201d Today\u2019s verse speaks of him. The New Living Translation states \u201cWhen he (Barnabas) arrived and saw this evidence of God\u2019s blessing, he was filled with joy, and he encouraged the believers to stay true to the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The early church thrived in spite of persecution. They had been scattered after Stephen\u2019s death. That didn\u2019t hinder the gospel being preached to the Gentiles.\u00a0 Barnabas stayed true to his name and encouraged believers to hold on to their faith.
