{"id":4138,"date":"2012-06-26T00:30:10","date_gmt":"2012-06-26T06:30:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=4138"},"modified":"2012-06-08T18:44:07","modified_gmt":"2012-06-09T00:44:07","slug":"promote-reconciliation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=4138","title":{"rendered":"Promote Reconciliation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cI beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.\u00a0 And I entreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life\u201d (Philippians 4:2-3).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s verses deal with two Christian women in conflict.\u00a0 According to various commentaries, both Euodias and Syntyche were energetic in the work of the Lord.\u00a0 However, they had some non-doctrinal issues that had gone on for some time. Paul didn\u2019t take sides but admonished those in the church to help these women resolve their conflict.\u00a0 Since Paul couldn\u2019t always be there to minister to every need of the church, it was good he had brethren to help him.\u00a0 He had men like Syzygus <em>(in some translations)<\/em>\u00a0 and Clement he considered \u201cyokefellows\u201d and \u201cfellowlabourers.\u201d\u00a0 He turned to these men, asking them to help Euodias and Syntyche settle their differences once and for all.\u00a0 Often times it takes someone to act as an intermediary to help two parties resolve matters.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, when both parties feel they are right and refuse to budge, this can cause a ripple effect in the church. It takes the willingness of one of the two (along with prayer and confrontation) to initiate a\u00a0 reconciliation.\u00a0 Maybe the confrontation factor is why some conflicts lasts so long.\u00a0 Sitting face to face to work things out is needful, but often difficult.<\/p>\n<p>One 70s movie ended with this line: \u201cLove is never having to say you\u2019re sorry.\u201d\u00a0 I beg to differ.\u00a0 Even in the best of relationships, you will have your share of differences.
