{"id":5372,"date":"2013-08-26T00:52:42","date_gmt":"2013-08-26T06:52:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=5372"},"modified":"2013-08-22T15:05:12","modified_gmt":"2013-08-22T21:05:12","slug":"a-mindset-of-hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wnac.org\/twg\/?p=5372","title":{"rendered":"A Mindset of Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>\u201cWherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end\u00a0 for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ\u201d (1 Peter 1:13).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Last week we shared devotions regarding growth through suffering. Sometimes when Christians face trials and testings, their growth is halted.\u00a0 They can&#8217;t get past the suffering.\u00a0 They can&#8217;t grasp that in comparison to eternity, suffering lasts only a short while. They have lost hope and tend to give up in their upward journey.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to today&#8217;s verse Peter had shared about the greatness and glory that Christians can look forward to in the future. John Wesley wrote these notes about today&#8217;s verse. \u201c <em>Wherefore<\/em>\u2014Having such encouragement. <em>Gird up the loins of your mind<\/em>\u2014As persons in the eastern countries were wont, in traveling or running, to gird up their long garments, so gather ye up all your thoughts and affections, and keep your mind always disencumbered and prepared to run the race which is set before you.\u00a0 <em>Be watchful<\/em>\u2014As servants that wait for their Lord. <em>And hope to the end<\/em>&#8211; Maintain a full expectation of all the grace. The blessings flowing free favour of God.\u00a0 <em>Which shall be brought to you at the final revelation of Jesus Christ<\/em>\u2014And which are now brought to by the revelation of Christ in you.\u201d<br \/>\nI remember a children&#8217;s chorus with these words, \u201cWith Christ in the vessel we can smile at the storm as we go sailing home.\u201d\u00a0 Get a mindset of hope.\u00a0 One day soon we&#8217;ll be sailing for our eternal home.<\/p>\n<p>Sue Winchester<br \/>\nMissouri<\/p>\n<p><strong>PRAY TOGETHER: <\/strong>Pray for the Norman Richards family, former FWBIM missionaries\u00a0 to Cote d&#8217;Ivoire and FWBHM missionaries to Louisiana.
