Are you fully aware of what the word redeem<\/em> means? \u00a0We sing about being redeemed in many of our hymns. \u00a0We read the word redeemed in several Bible verses.\u00a0 Many of us have grown up knowing that Jesus Christ is our Redeemer.<\/p>\n

But do we truly know what it means and, in turn, how much it should<\/em> mean to us?<\/p>\n

Redeem, according to Noah Webster and his colleagues means: \u00a01 a<\/em>:<\/strong> to buy back :<\/strong> repurchase <http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/repurchase<\/a>> \u00a0b<\/em>:<\/strong> to get or win back, 2 :<\/strong> to free from what distresses <http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/distress[2]<\/a>> \u00a0or harms: as a<\/em>:<\/strong> to free from captivity by payment of ransom <http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/ransom[1]<\/a>> \u00a0b<\/em>:<\/strong> to extricate <http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/extricate<\/a>> \u00a0from or help to overcome something.<\/p>\n

Does the definition personalize it for you?<\/p>\n

We have been bought back from our sins.<\/p>\n

We will be free from what distresses or harms.<\/p>\n

We will be extricated, if we haven’t already.<\/p>\n

As for me, I don’t deserve it. \u00a0As for me, I could think of several others more worthy. \u00a0As for me, I wouldn’t have wasted time or energy on myself, knowing my track record.<\/p>\n

And yet He did.\u00a0 My life has been and will be redeemed. \u00a0To God be the glory!<\/p>\n
