A Quiet Life

Jesus’ life was one of quietness. Even though He was busy, it was not the busy, busy and hurry, hurry of our day. He offers us this quiet. In fact, a meek and quiet spirit is in the sight of God of great price. He says in Isaiah that His people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places.

Often we miss out on what God is trying to tell us when we are rushing around being busy for Him. We are so rushed doing things we deem necessary for Him that we don’t sit quietly with Him. We should rather sit quietly and rest in the comfort of the Holy Spirit than be rushing around heading up this or that program. There are times when we must hurry, but it doesn’t accomplish what God intended if we have not first soaked our souls with the quietness of His loving presence.

“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).
