A New Name for Abram

“Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee”  (Genesis 17:5).

As we close our study this week, we’re going to see some name changes. Today we look at Abram. He was an ordinary man with enormous faith. By faith, he was an obedient servant who trusted in the faithfulness of God. God honored him by giving him a new name with a promise. He would become the father of many nations.

Later in his life, he would father a son whom God would use to finish carrying out God’s promise.  You may feel you are just an ordinary person. However, with faith and obedience to His will, God can use you in a mighty way. He may not change your name but He will give you the promise of Heaven.
