Using a Teaching Gift

“Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.  And the things thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also” (2 Timothy 2:1-2).

When Paul wrote the two letters to Timothy, he knew there would come a time he wouldn’t be there for him.  Paul knew Timothy’s potential.  He recognized his God-given abilities.  He charged him to be strong in Christ and use the gift of teaching.  By doing so, he would make disciples who one day would teach others.  Paul had mentored Timothy giving him the good news of the gospel.  He was passing the torch unto someone he felt was gifted to teach.

Do you remember those who mentored you?  If you feel gifted to teach, use your gift and enable those you teach so they can one day teach others.
