Confess Him Before Men

“Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 10:32-33).

Most of us are familiar with the story of Peter who denied Christ three different times. No matter how much we profess to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior, if we’re truly honest we’ll have to admit at times we’ve denied Him, not speaking of Him or speaking out for Him to others.

Today’s verses make very plain the consequences of either confessing or denying Him before men.  Stop and think about what it will be like to stand before God, knowing we have denied Him—knowing we didn’t seize opportunities to take a stand for His Son.

But Peter’s story doesn’t end with his denial. How wonderful that God knows and forgives and restores. Let God’s grace serve as a reminder and motivator today to share this good news; confess Him before men.
