“And, behold a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, And stood at His feet weeping and began to wash His feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed His feet, and anointed them with the ointment” (Luke 7:37-38).
We see a picture of a sinner woman who came to Jesus, not only to repent but to worship Him with her tears. In her own way she was worshiping and praising God using the best she could offer. From what I have read the box of ointment was costly. Some thought it a waste, but God looked at her heart and the sincerity of her gift. God didn’t rebuke her but was touched by her contrite spirit.
What is in your “alabaster box”? Is it filled with worship, praise, and the best you can offer in service to Him?
