An Altar in a Fish

“Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly” (Jonah 2:1).

There may not have been materials to build an altar, but Jonah prayed like there was one present. As he poured out his heart to God, I can only imagine he was deeply regretting his running from God.

You may not find yourself in the belly of a great fish, but wherever your problems bring you, build an altar and pray. Humble yourself in His presence and cry out to God and He will answer. Wherever your place is to pour out your heart and feel He will always be with you that will be your “altar.”
