“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world” (Titus 2:11-12).
The NIV Study Bible words our verses this way: “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.”
I’m so glad that salvation was not just for the Jews. We, as Gentiles, were included in God’s plan. We must remember we have a dual citizenship, one on this earth, and an eternal one in Heaven. Until Christ’s return, we must live a life above reproach. Following Christ’s example of holiness makes that possible.
