“But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way†(1 Corinthians 12:31).
It would have been impossible to cover the subject of the gifts of the Holy Spirit within five devotions. I challenge you to do an in-depth study of 1 Corinthians 12 using the excellent Bible study in the TWG magazine and extra study helps. Prayer and searching the scriptures regarding this matter are vital. We should not expect to receive all gifts or any one in particular. However, it should be our heart’s desire to be led by the Spirit so He can impart to us what He will. Paul then closes the chapter with a promise to show us “a more excellent way.†There is a priceless gift we can all strive to receive. Paul begins sharing about the greatest gift of all, “love†found in 1 Corinthians 13.
