A New Covenant Made

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15).

Yesterday we saw a very bleak picture. It seemed all hope was gone. God, in His love and mercy, was going to issue a new covenant with mankind. God was going to ultimately destroy that old serpent, Satan. In the meantime, man would have to face hardship in life as a result of his sin. The sweat of labor in making a living, a woman’s pain in childbirth, physical and possible spiritual death would have to be dealt with because of the first couple’s sin. We see in today’s verse the first promise of a Messiah. He would have to be born to die to be able to restore man’s fellowship with God and free him from the penalty of sin. By this glorious promise, we can one day live with Him in the new heaven and earth mentioned in Revelation chapter 21.
