“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write for these words are true and faithful†(Revelation 21:4-5).
Even with my vivid imagination, I can’t begin to think how John must have felt as God shared His plans for the future heaven and earth. I think I would have been somewhere between overwhelmed and dancing for joy.
We saw in Wednesday’s devotion how Adam and Eve had lost their paradise. God never duplicated a Garden of Eden after sin entered the world. However, because of Christ’s death on the cross, we have the blessed hope of “a new heaven and a new earth.†I think it will surpass the beauty and bliss of the garden. We will see what it is like to live in a perfect world, free of all the things we face in our world today. I get excited thinking about no more sin, death, tears, sickness or pain. That feeling heightens when I think of getting to see Jesus and thank Him for making it all possible.
Our Creator is presently creating a place for us to live when we go to be with Him. (John 14:1-3) We can’t begin to imagine what all He has in store for us. We all wish we could catch a glimpse like John did, but press on, dear hearts; it will be more than we ever dreamed.
