Praise God’s Son

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).

Merry Christmas! Happy Birthday, Jesus! It is Christ’s birthday; let us give Him praise as we celebrate His lowly birth. The best gift we can give Him is to accept the free gift of eternal life. This was made possible because God gave us the greatest gift ever given. We can show our gratitude by giving Him the gift of service to Him. Praise God’s Son for His willingness to leave the glory of Heaven to come and live among us. Praise Him for being willing to give His life so we could forever live with Him. Praise Him for the resurrection and for the hope of a better life when He returns. I love the song that speaks of His second coming, “the next time He comes, He’ll be coming for me.” Praise the blessed name of Jesus!

Praise God in Song

“I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being” (Psalm 104:33).

I love to sing. I don’t sing well, but when I do, it is for the Lord. I love to listen to gospel singing on tapes or a disk, singing along with those whose talent surpasses mine. My late husband shared that same love of gospel singing. One day we will be reunited as all God’s children will sing around His throne. It won’t matter if we can’t even carry a tune. We’ll just be singing praises to God for all eternity. With that in mind, I think it’s important we practice a bit before we enter the portals of glory.

Praise God’s Holy Name

“Let them praise thy great and terrible name, for it is holy” (Psalm 99:3).

In Bible times you often would see God’s name as “JEHOVAH.” It was a name of reverence. We should never say or do anything to profane the awesome and holy name of God, our Creator and Lord. He holds a name worthy of our highest praise. May we, even during our times of deepest despair, say as Job, “the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21b).

Praise God For His Power

“Be thou exalted, Lord, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power” (Psalm 21:13).

I think it appropriate that we end this month’s Bible study praising God, our Creator. Whether it is in words of testimony or in song, praise God for His power displayed in Creation. Praise Him for forming you and taking care of your every need. Praise Him you can tap into His power so you can joyfully serve Him. Praise Him you can do and face all things through His strength.

The Birthday of A King

This is an beautiful song about an amazingly true story. Let us praise the birth of our King.

The Birthday of A King

In the little village of Bethlehem,
There lay a child one day,
And the sky was bright,
With a holy light,
O’er the place where Jesus lay.

Alleluia! O how the angels sang!
Alleluia! How it rang!
And the sky was bright,
With a holy light,
‘Twas the birthday of a King.

Humble birthplace, But O!
How much God gave to us that day!
From the manger bed what a path has led,
What a perfect holy way.

Alleluia! O how the angels sang!
Alleluia! How it rang!
And the sky was bright,
With a Holy light,
‘Twas the birthday of a King.

God – Creator of Salvation’s Plan

“Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are forgiven” (Romans 4:7).

We should praise God forever for not only being our Creator, but the One who was willing to give His Son. In doing so He created salvation’s plan. Instead of being condemned eternally, we have the blessed hope of Heaven because our sins are forgiven. Whatever God creates is perfect and complete. He is very meticulous with details. He made salvation’s plan simple so even a child could understand. All we would have to do is repent of our sins and accept His Son as Savior. If we had nothing else to thank Him for we would still be very blessed. Thank Him daily if you have accepted God’s plan for “blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven.”
