Focus Without Fear

“That He would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve Him without fear, In holiness and righteousness before Him, all the days of our life.” (Luke 1:74, 75)

Have we ever had fears about our service for God? Yes! We fear visitation, leading souls to salvation, speaking at women’s groups, teaching a Sunday school class, volunteering for children’s church, singing, testimony services, praying aloud, and so much more.

Dear sister in Christ, we are delivered out of the hand of our enemy, Satan. He can only attempt to make us fear our service for the Lord; he cannot stop us from serving!

Focus Without Fear

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

My mother is 80 years old and lives with us. She has visited “the valley of the shadow of death” with this last surgery. She was never afraid as she came so close to crossing this earthly shore into her home eternal, because the loving, ever near shepherd comforted her through this serious time. I learned so much from her through this. Christians do not have to fear death or its dark shadow hovering over us. Our Holy Shepherd will be there comforting us with his rod and staff.

Focus Without Fear

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” (1 John 4:8)

When we go shopping, we fill our carts with only those things we want. We, with the Lord’s help, can do the same thing with our heart. We can keep filling our heart with love which “casteth out fear.” We can carry out noble gestures of love and fix our fear factor at the same time.  Today let us love more and fear less. This world needs the love of God to flow.

Focus Without Fear

“Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.” (Psalm 27:3)

Dear sisters, I know there are days that feel like the armies of Satan camps around us causing us to fear and doubt. In our darkest hour God is there. In our most frightful experiences God is there. When troubles and trials are upon us God is there. When we feel alone God is there. He is our precious, dependable guide through these times of fear. We can conquer fears with our confidence that God will be there. With the knowledge and promise of God’s presence, overcome fear.

Focus Without Fear

“And the Lord, He it is that doth go before thee; He will be with thee, He will not fail, neither forsake thee; fear not, neither be dismayed.” (Deuteronomy 31:8)

Fears can control our lives. I think it’s because we don’t know how to overcome them. Some fear water, heights, the dark, public speaking, spiders, snakes, death, roller coasters, new adventures, the unknown and many more.

We must build our confidence with the promises God has given us; “He will go before thee,” “He will be with thee,” “He will not fail, neither forsake thee.” What a beautiful blanket to wrap around our lives. We must believe God and trust in His word that He will do what he promises, then “fear not.”

Jordan Crossings

Crossing the Jordan. There may be many Jordans we must cross in our walk with Christ. Are you ready for the one just ahead? Are you in the Word day in and day out? Remember when you are reading the Word of God, Jesus Himself is talking to you. Jesus is the Word. No one can cross his Jordan successfully without the Christ going before and preparing the way.

Just as the LORD rolled back the waters of the Jordan and prepared dry ground for the Israelites, He is preparing our way. He is readying the waters so when we step in we will have a place for our feet. He wants what is best for us. He doesn’t want the waters to drown us. He doesn’t even want us to swim the waters. He doesn’t want us to mire up in the mud. He wants us to walk uprightly and cross the Jordan on
dry ground rejoicing in the victory.

Praise be to Him who gives the victory. “Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all” (1 Chronicles 29:11). Cross your Jordan in victory!

Blessed Assurance and Wisdom

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5)

Blessed assurance. We can know the things of God. He gives wisdom to all who ask. He gives it abundantly! This means I don’t have to go through my days hopelessly wondering if God is for me. I know He is. I know He is working all things for my good.

I have the assurance that I can rest in Him even when the details are fuzzy. The picture is clear to Him. I just need to follow my Shepherd and trust that He is taking me along the route to greener pastures that are best for me. I don’t need to worry that the ledge is too narrow. I have the assurance that I am in His care. Nothing will harm me when the Shepherd is near. “Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” (Hebrews 10:22) This is blessed assurance!
