United We Stand, Divided We Fall

Psalm 133:1 “Behold how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”

“United we stand, divided we fall” has been used in speeches and songs. It is the Kentucky state motto. According to the Internet encyclopedia, this exact saying is credited to Aesop, a Greek slave and the author of fables. Christ Himself said, “…Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25).

When Christians unite together, God’s work will get done. If we would only love each other like He loves us. This requires resolve and commitment because loving is a lifelong responsibility. We do not ever want to see Christians fall—whether one, a group or all. Let’s think about the ways we can live in unity with our brothers and sisters in Christ as good and pleasant children of God.
