Grandmothers

2 Timothy 1:5a
“When I called to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois….”

My mom has always said, “If you want to know who you are, look at your grandmothers.” I loved both my grandmothers very much and respected them for the women they were. Between them they raised 17 children and took this responsibility very seriously. During the Depression, my father’s mother would open the door to find children who had been dropped off to be fed, and gladly she fed them Both grandmothers never turned anyone away for food or provision. They were both frugal, which made for a really tight granddaughter. They made clothes, dish cloths, curtains, shoes, candles and a happy home. I have fond memories of both my grandmothers, and I am grateful to know that I am both of them wrapped up in me.
