“Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised” (Proverbs 31:30).
If “Ruby” were to meet today’s women at the local Starbucks for coffee, she would find those who have been influenced by TV shows and magazines to live their lives according to their version of what’s right. Virtue has been so distorted by a new sense of values. However, God’s standards have not changed with the times. He still admonishes people to lead holy lives. Being a woman of integrity may be frowned on by society but she is needed especially in the home. How we dress, carry out our responsibilities, and influence our household may take on a different form than “Ruby,” but, women, we are still accountable to God for how we live our lives. God will not be judging us by the external things such as beauty, fashion, and how immaculate we keep our house. He looks inside our hearts and cares about the moral values we embrace. The conclusion of the whole matter is to “fear the Lord” and everything else will fall into place. Relationships are a mess today because women don’t desire to be a “Ruby.” Men today need to find women who pattern themselves after the Proverbs 31 woman, but, even when they do, they don’t choose them for wives.
God has the “blueprint” for women to use as they seek to be all God intended them to be. Seek Him daily for help in implementing it. Yes, you will stand out from the crowd, but, in the long run, you will win the respect of your household and others around you. By the way, I don’t think “Ruby” has any extra time or money to spend at Starbucks to get a frappuccino.
