Esther’s Secret

“Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it” (Esther 2:10).

Esther was a Jewish captive. The Jews were a despised people. Here she was living with a group of young maidens who were going to audition to take the place of the ousted Queen Vashti. She had to keep her nationality a secret. If she didn’t do so, it could have been detrimental to her and her people. She had great faith, making her beautiful inside and out. She would have to be creative in her witness. You may have to be that way, too, if you encounter those whose culture may be very different than yours.
