Esther Becomes Queen

“And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti” (Esther 2:17).

There was a year of preparation before appearing before the king. Throughout that time Esther found favor with those around her. She had a sparkling personality and showed respect to those in authority. None of this was done just to impress people. Her light was shining brightly for God. Esther winning the favor of the king may not have come as a surprise to those around her. However, think of Esther, a lowly, orphaned girl with a secret. Isn’t it amazing how God intervenes when He has a job for us to do? Against what might have seemed insurmountable odds, God’s hand was over the night of the crowning. We all have a place in God’s service in our world. We should allow Him to help us beat the odds.
