Dependence

“Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord” (1 Corinthians 11:11).

Today’s verse emphasizes the fact that couples must be dependent.  Their needs and desires will be met as they depend on each other, but more importantly, on God.  Husbands and wives should work as equal partners following God’s rules for marriage.

God wants us to come to Him to share our needs and express the desires of our hearts.  A mutual trust develops as we trust in God.  Dependence on Christ is not a sign of weakness. It does indicate that without Christ we are nothing.  In the marital sense, it signifies our completeness together with our spouse.
