“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44).
Our study for August is titled, “Shine in Truth.” Today’s verse reminds us that we must first acquaint ourselves with the one who always stands ready to distort the truth. The devil is a master of disguises. He twists the truth so we may not recognize it. He even knows Scripture, but, he will always take it out of context.
The only way we will ever shine in truth is to do as James 4:7 instructs, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” A right relationship with God and time spent in His Word will help you fight against the father of all lies.
