Speak No Evil

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).

As we look at another aspect of resolving conflict this week, in the study title we see the words, “talk” and “listen.”

Often times we want to be all talk.  We don’t want to take the time to listen. In the process of just talking, we fall prey on saying some wrong things which lead to conflict.  Gossip tends to run rampant when we forget to listen. The latter won’t help us build one another up in the faith.  Things can be misconstrued on our part when we forget to hear another’s side of things.  Our job, as Christians, is not to anger and annoy others. We are to be “body builders” and edify.  We can’t do the latter with “corrupt communication.”
