“Receive my instruction and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold†(Proverbs 8:10).
One of my brothers has used this quote in regards to leaving any inheritance to his children, “I’m givin’ while I’m livin’, so you will be knowin’ when I’m goin.’†As humorous as that might sound, many of us, who may have little of this world’s goods to leave their kids, can relate. However, our prayer can be that we tried our best to instruct them in the ways of the Lord and that knowledge will be priceless to them when our lives are over. In doing so, we are leaving them things more precious than silver or gold.
