Trust in the Riches of God

“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17).

If you have ever read about or lived during the time of the stock market crash of 1929, you know how earthly riches cannot be trusted. I’m sure there are other accounts that bear out the fact that people cannot depend on earthly wealth. If you dependent more on your wealth than God, your priorities need changing. Earthly riches are prone to draw one away from God. It tends to make people trust more in their own might and wisdom.

Most of us don’t have great wealth. It is more practical to trust God who is able to “supply all your need according to his riches by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). This verse doesn’t just cover finances but every need you could possibly be facing. Doesn’t it make more sense to transfer trust over to the One Who owns the cattle on a thousand hills? As Christians, we should know by now, everything we have belongs to Him. We are just to be good stewards of what He loans to us without interest.
