First Promise of Redemption

“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed, it shall bruise his head and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Genesis 3:15).

This verse can be difficult to analyze so I will just attempt to share in a short space what I glean from this verse. The sin of Adam and Eve brought about the first promise of one who would come to redeem mankind from his sinful condition. We later in His Word know this was to be Jesus. Through the Seed of the one who Satan deceived in the Garden of Eden, Jesus was going to defeat Satan. With Christ’s victory over Satan, He would rescue us from the penalty of sin.

The first recorded promise of Christ’s first coming was fulfilled when, in spite of everything the devil tried to do to stop it, Christ was born. He lived, died, and, praise God, He arose! He conquered death, hell, and the grave to redeem us. He made a way to restore the bond of fellowship He always wanted to have with us.

In the New Testament, we read of His second coming. Be prepared. God always keeps His promises.
