Called Out

“By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went” (Hebrews 11:8).

Abram was called out to serve much like today’s missionaries. He had to leave his “comfort zone” and go to another land. There was one catch. He was going to be traveling using the compass of God. Abram had no idea where he was going but was willing to let God lead. This was going to take sacrifice, obedience, and faith. He wouldn’t be traveling alone. He would have his father, wife, and nephew, Lot, with him. It was asking a lot from Abram to take on such responsibility. Abram chose to simply trust and obey God. Abram could have had questions about where, what kind of people would he be dealing with, and possibly not knowing their language. However, you don’t read of any of this hindering his departure to serve God.

God chose Abram for a special purpose. God still calls out those willing to go wherever He leads.
