The Promise of the Light

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).

I like the comment Pat Franks shared in her Bible study, “So Send I You” about the book of Isaiah. She stated, “Isaiah is sometimes called the Gospel of the Old Testament.” In our verse today, the prophet Isaiah foretold the birth of Christ. If you do an in-depth study of the book of Isaiah, you will see many details that point to the True Light, Jesus.

Each day we live we are writing chapters in the book of our lives. Do the details of our lives point others to the Light? Or has His light in us grown dim? In an upcoming devotion we will see our role in sharing with others about the promise God kept in sending His only begotten Son just as Isaiah prophesied.
