The Eden Covenant

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28).

Our study this week concludes with God’s two covenants. One of these was with man in the Garden of Eden and the other was with all mankind. The first one our writer calls the “Edenic” covenant. When God created man He gave him dominion over the rest of creation. In the image of God, man was to be a steward over everything God made. It was easy to enter into that covenant in the perfect world where he was placed. However, starting tomorrow we see how something which seemed so easy to follow was irretrievably broken.
