God Does Not Change

“Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath.” Hebrews 6:17

I am so glad God does not change. It is so wonderful to know I can depend on Him everyday in every way. Some days I feel great; other days I might have different feelings or attitudes. The Lord is not like that. And that is why He loves and helps us so consistently. He is perfect in every way and gives us the best of His unchangeable nature. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today, and forever.” We should strive for a more constant Christian life so others can depend on us.

The Internet Highway

“Enter ye in at the strait gate; for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in there at:” Matthew 7:13

The Internet is a good thing. I use it to send these devotions to Nashville. I keep in touch with family in other states and most recently I have been sending get well and thinking of you cards through a hospital website to a friend in that hospital. It is such a shame that something that can be used for good has many, many sin traps within its highway. This road has hazard traps all through it. As Christians we must use extreme caution in traveling this highway. We must deny Satan access to our eyes and mind, keeping ourselves pure and spiritually right.

The Sunday School Lesson

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive, but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient.” 2 Timothy 2:24

In 1932, a young five-year-old girl lived in Concord, Tennessee. This little community had three churches, a Baptist, a Methodist, and a Presbyterian. They took turns holding services once each week. This little girl went to Sunday school faithfully at these churches every Sunday. She received a little card with a picture of the Bible story on one side and the written story on the other. Each Sunday after church she stopped at Uncle Sam and Aunt Sally’s home, an elderly couple who loved to see the little girl come by. She told them the lesson from the little card just like the teacher told it to her. Mom’s Sunday school lessons were remarkable because she couldn’t read.

The Parting

“Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.” Revelation 2:4

Last week I had company—lot’s of company. I was busy cooking, straightening and washing towels. I love having my family all together; it gives me a warm and happy feeling. Saturday, I stood on the deck and waved goodbye to the last family member. A sense of loneliness and loss swarmed over me. Then the thought struck me. I wonder how God feels when His children walk away from Him. We must not part from the love of our heavenly Father.

No Shame

“Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? Nay, they were not at all ashamed…” Jeremiah 6:15a

Ladies have you taken a trip to the mall or a local retail store lately? If you have I know you have noticed the shameless way folks are dressing and acting. We have a huge responsibility to our young people as well as our peers to show them how to act and dress in a modest fashion. Others can see the difference. I substituted in public schools and always dressed in a modest fashion. One child raised his hand and asked, “Hey, are you a church lady?” Christians should always act and dress the way the Lord would have us to. We can do this because we are God’s women and we want to set the Christian example. Even children recognize the difference.

A Field of Weeds

If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” 1 Corinthians 3:15

Weeds grow in place of once-tall wheat,
Still guarded by a weary fence.
Weeds that invaded long ago,
And now have grown so thick and dense.

Some time back, grew here this promise:
Golden grain for a hungry world.
Crowded out by thorn and thistle,
This field once full yields no reward.

It’s time to clear this field, but how?
Purging comes only by fire…
Weeds and grain must die together,
For new life does their death require.

Ms. Inferiority

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4

Dear sister in Christ, whatever our inferiorities, we can have victory over them. God loved us so much He gave us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, who freely gave His life for us. Let’s not permit inferior feelings to ruin our life but rather let’s give our life to the Lord as a willing servant; a beautiful and wonderful woman who has victory that will overcome inferior feelings.
