What God Has Joined Together…

If a marriage is as the Bible teaches, the husband will have no problem honoring and loving his wife as he does himself, and the wife will have no problem submitting to one who treats her with the same tenderness and care as Christ gives His followers. As a reflection of the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Spirit—husband, wife and God) marriage should emulate God’s love for mankind and Christ’s love for the body of believers.

HOW DO YOU RELATE?

Read Genesis 2:18-25 and Matthew 19:3-6. God instituted the first marriage in the Garden of Eden. Jesus reemphasized truths concerning this holy union. What should that say to us? Read Ephesians 5:21. If you are not married, spend time praying for a newly-married couple or a couple who will soon be married. If you are married, what does submitting to one another out of reverence to Christ look like for you and your spouse? Find a quiet time together to discuss the reason marriage was instituted and how you could more readily submit to one another as unto the Lord.
