Mamas, Don’t Let Your Children Grow Up . . .

Funny how those disciples could forget so quickly. One day Jesus is allaying their fears about who will be the greatest in Heaven by using the example of a small child to exhibit humility leading to greatness. Just a few days later, they try to send away children who have been brought to be blessed by Jesus, and He has to remind them again that Heaven will be filled with those of childlike faith. We are so like those disciples. We spend so much time and energy trying to become more sophisticated when what we really need to do is follow our inner child.

HOW DO YOU RELATE?

Read Matthew 18:1-6 and 19:14. In the first passage what does Jesus say about someone who welcomes a small child on His behalf? And what does He say about one who causes a “little one” to stumble or lose faith? Consider children—how trusting they are—and ponder ways you can positively impact the children in your home or church toward a believer’s walk.
