Jonah the Preaching Prophet

“And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown” (Jonah 3:4).

Jonah had a day’s journey to make and a powerful message to deliver. He cried out the impending judgment upon Nineveh. Jonah preached boldly things people don’t want to hear. He probably wondered if anyone would pay any attention to his warning. Jonah was in for a surprise. The people listened intently to Jonah’s message. In spite of their evil deeds, they realized they needed to heed the warning of the prophet of God. Jonah preached and God took care of the rest. Something exciting was going to happen! We will learn what it was in tomorrow’s devotion.
