Where Are You Going?

Day Five: Matthew 10:10a

“Nor script for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves….”

Have you ever started on a trip and began thinking of what you will need to take. My husband says I overpack. And he is right; I do. I take way more than we need, and the excess slows us down and burdens us. It is so important that we stay focused on the purpose of this earthly travel. We need to “lay aside every weight” that would cause us to be hindered or sidetracked. Where are we going? We are going to heaven so we need to travel light, share the Light, and be a light.

Where Are You Going?

Day Four: Psalm 52:8

“I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide with mine eye.”

Any of us with children, upon their leaving the house, have asked, “Where are you going”? We certainly want to know where they are going, who they will be with, what they will be doing and when they will return home. Many times when children leave, mother begins to pray. God knows where we are going and wants us to guide our own lives with the caution we would guide our children. Why? Because we are God’s children.

Where Are You Going?

Day Three: I Peter 1:4

“To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you.”

When we were children, in the car for hours, we always knew the destination, but asked frequently, “Are we there yet”? As Christians we know our destination but not always the exact details of the journey. Sometimes life’s journey tires us to the point where we ask the Lord; “Are we there yet”?

Where are we going? Dear Christian sister we are going to heaven to that inheritance reserved for us. No matter how tired we get or bogged down we are from the issues of life we must keep our destination before us always.

Where Are You Going?

Day Two: James 5:20

“Let him know, that he which converted the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and shall hide a multitude of sins.”

Where are we going? Who’s going with us? We all know how much fun it is to travel with others. Ask any Woman Active for Christ about the pure joy of going to a conference, a retreat or the National Association with other Women Active for Christ. Think of the joy it would be to win others so they can join us on our journey to heaven. It will make us happy and delight the Lord.

Where Are You Going?

Day One: 2 Corinthians 11:26, 27

“In journeying often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.”

Where are we going? We are on our way to heaven! Some arrive early and some in older years—all having faced some kind of peril along the way. The Apostle Paul faced many perils along his journey but it did not stop him from his journey. We should have the kind of resolve Paul had. Even though he encountered all kinds of perils and obstacles, he offered this encouragement.

1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore my beloved brethren, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.”

Pastor Appreciation

1 Timothy 3:1
“This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.”

The women of our denomination are hard workers and meet many needs in the church. They also support many areas of Free Will Baptist interests. I know our women and our WAC groups, and they are so willing to lend a hand to the pastor whenever there is a need.

September is pastor appreciation month. Let’s tell our pastors how much they mean to us, that we are praying for them, and how important they are to our churched. Maybe we could send a card, letter or a small token of our appreciation to them. Pray, love and take care of our pastors.
Bless you pastor, God’s man doing God’s work, you have chosen a “good work.”

Blessed Assurance and Wisdom

Blessed assurance. We can know the things of God. He gives wisdom to all who ask. “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.” (James 1:5) He gives it abundantly!

This means I don’t have to go through my days hopelessly wondering if God is for me. I know He is. I know He is working all things for my good. I have the assurance that I can rest in Him even when the details are fuzzy. The picture is clear to Him. He has it all before Him. I just need to follow my Shepherd and trust that He is taking me along the route to greener pastures that are best for me. I don’t need to worry that the ledge is too narrow. I have the assurance that I am in His care. Nothing will harm me when the Shepherd is near.

“Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22.

This is blessed assurance!
