Our United States of America

Psalm 33:12
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”

Our nation has taken prayer out of our schools, the Ten Commandments out of the courthouses, and stripped Christian values across America. Sunday is no longer sacred and kept as God’s day. Churches are not holy places anymore, and Christians are not considered respected servants of the Great I Am.

If we want our nation back, we must give it back to God and let Him be the Lord of our lives.

The Cutting Edge

Hebrews 4:12
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, , and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Have you ever tried to cut a slice from a loaf of homemade bread with a dull knife? Have you ever tried to cut cloth with a dull pair of scissors? Have you ever tried to peel an apple with a dull knife? This is how it would be in the Christian’s life without the sharp power of the Word of God.

I have heard testimonies from the Gideon’s of how folks would pick up the Bible in their motel rooms and read until they gave their lives to the Lord and Savior. God’s Word has the power to convict, to lead, to teach, to uncover hidden sins, to cut through a false spirit and to divide good from bad.

Thank you, Lord, for giving us your Word to help us live the godly lives you want for us and to win the lost to your Kingdom.

Empty, Empty, Empty

Ephesians 1:7 “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ the Father of glory may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him.”

The other night as I sat at the dining table trying to write devotions, I drew a blank. I tapped my pencil, flipped pages of a concordance and patted my feet nervously. My husband looked over my way and asked, “What’s wrong?” I looked at him and pointed to my forehead three times. With each tap I said, “Empty, empty, empty.” He replied, “God will fill your empty places.”

Did He fill my mind? Yes He did! I ask for your prayers that I would always let the Lord lead in these devotions. Thank You!

An Evening of Gold

Proverbs 25:11
“A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold and pictures of silver.”

The other evening I looked through some old WNAC Yearbooks and Co-Laborers. They dated back to 1946 with some from the 1950’s and 60’s. As I read from some of these dear sweet ladies of days gone by, I realized the gold I held in my hands. I read and filled my heart until 4:30 in the morning. I felt like I was allowed to partake of something so sweet and so good that I did not deserve such a gift. I felt the strength and wisdom our WNAC was built upon and sustained through the years. We are what we are today because of these women and their purpose to build a foundation that was strong, steadfast and dedicated to the Lord. God bless these founders of our denomination’s WNAC.

The Songs of Nature

Isaiah 55:12
“For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace, the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.”

Have you ever noticed the music that comes from nature? The other day I walked under a pine tree and stopped to listen to the calming sound the wind makes rustling through the branches. The birds sing from the trees, the frogs bellow from the ponds, the bees hum their tunes in the air, the crickets play their music in the evening, the river rushes her melodies as she moves along her path, the thunder beats his drum through the skies and all of God’s creation joins in nature’s choir.
With all of the songs of nature around us, how can we help but have a song in our hearts?

Let Us Be Content

I Timothy 6:8 “And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”

I have never before seen a time where people want more and more. Credit cards are maxed out and dad’s wallet is empty trying to satisfy the family of their wants. Contentment starts with a thankful heart showing appreciation to our heavenly Father for His provision for us. Food and clothing are the things we should be “therewith content.” If we haven’t been contented lately maybe we should go back to God’s basics, food and clothing. His blessings go far beyond these fundamental needs and He gives to us so freely. Let’s give thanks for all He has done for us and be thankful for our “food and raiment.”

The Cove

I Timothy 2:2b “…that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

Last week my husband and I went to Cades Cove. If I haven’t mentioned it before, let me say it now, this is my favorite place. Located in the heart of Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, it is so quiet and peaceful. The sights are amazing and God’s majestic creation unfolds like the bloom of a delicate flower. Our minds and bodies shift to slow motion and the only important thing before us is soaking up the beauty and quiet that surrounds us.

Ladies, most of the time we are not living that quiet, peaceful life. Let us find a cove in our lives where there is some quiet and peace for our prayer and Bible time. Then the majesty of our great God will embrace us in the place we have come to meet Him.
